First Week

My name is Stewart.

I almost can’t believe that I had the courage to sign up for RBL. I knew that I needed to make changes in my life, but had ignored that.

When I got out of the Navy 17 years ago, I was in decent shape. Over the past 17 years, I have sat idly by as my weight has increased to 290 pounds. My clothes are barely fitting and I hate to look at myself in pictures. I have realized that I can’t ignore this any more. I want to change not just for me, but for my daughter as well. I want her to know that I value how she sees me and I want that to be a good picture! I also would like to be able to play volleyball with her without getting winded!

So I have started at the GHS YMCA, and it is awesome. I did two days of cardio last week, and today was my first day on the ActiveTrax workout. Wow, didn’t know those muscles could work like that!!

I am excited for this opportunity, but I know that I can’t do it alone. I pray that God will help me have the strength and energy to complete this. My family is also supporting me, and that means a lot. My wife and daughter came with me on Saturday, which made me very happy. My coworkers are very supportive as well.

I thank Rob and everyone at His Radio for giving us this opportunity. I am excited for all that God is going to do!!

  1. Hi Stewart! I am not in this competition, but have a friend who is and I am so excited for her and for you! First, let me say THANK YOU for your time of service. My family and I appreciate your commitment. Second, let me say that I also work out at the GHS Y and just recently started back myself….last week. I was so excited to see people in there with the T-shirts on! I came into work and told my friend that I saw some competitors in a class that I took early in the morning. I will be praying for all of you! You deserve a healthy life, don’t ever let the enemy tell you any different. He will try to steal anything he can from you. Don’t let him!! Hang in there!!

    1. Erin, thanks so much for those kind and encouraging words. It certainly means a lot and helps. I’m looking forward to the challenge.
