Independent Or Dependent On God?

Today’s word is “independence.” I was curious when I saw this word on the wall of the YMCA in Texas.  As I have time to think about this word, I believe that when someone is healthy and fit, they begin to feel “independent” and confident that they can achieve their wellness goals even if they do not have help from someone else.  However, this is a falsehood.  This journey has convinced me, more than ever, that I am totally dependent on God for the desire to be healthy and the ability to sustain a healthy lifestyle.  A synonym of “independence” is “self-sufficiency.” The world view tries to convince us that we can be self-determined and self-sufficient to live our lives apart from God.  Today, I am thankful that God has shown me that He is the key to my success on this journey.  Anything and everything that I am able to do is because God lives in me.  2 Corinthians 3:5 affirms this truth: “Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.”   I pray that we will realize that God is our strength and that we need to totally rely on Him for every victory.  Blessings, Linda
