Blessed By God

Today’s word is “blessed.” I don’t know about you, but I feel truly blessed.  I am beginning to realize that I can really have fun at the gym.  I can even look forward to going to the gym to work out.  It was a gloomy day and I was not very enthusiastic about completing a 5 K on the treadmill this afternoon.  There was only one treadmill available.  It was right next to the YMCA staff member who teaches the “Couch to 5K” class.  I felt intimidated, but I had no choice in the matter.  When I glanced at her treadmill, she was running at 7.0 mph.  I warmed up and then I “ran” at my pace – 4.0 mph.  She was running effortlessly during the minutes that I struggled between 4.0 mph and 5.0 mph.  Although she far “outran” me, I felt blessed that I finished my 5K in 42 minutes and 18 seconds.  After she was finished, I asked her how long she had been running.  She replied, “Oh, about 4 years.” I thought to myself, “I have been running less than 3 months.  I wondered, “How fast will I be running in January 2016 when we gather to encourage a new group of Rob’s Biggest Losers?” Just the thought of looking forward to the changes that will take place in the remainder of 2014 made me feel even more blessed.  I pray that the words of Numbers 6:24-26 will remind us how blessed we all are because God loves us so: “May the Lord Bless you and keep you.  May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace.” Blessings, Linda
