Saturday Struggles and Triumphs

Well I have gotten through half of my first weekend of my 12 week journey with GREAT success so far. If you have ever been to Sams Club on a Saturday you know exactly what I’m talking about. Every ilse you turn presents you with yet another yummy sample to try and if we’re being totally honest, you could go there and complete a whole brunch without having to eat again.  I actually overheard one of the customers tell one of the women preparing samples that this is how she feeds her family on occasion…her husband said “yep, she’s not kidding.”  It started as soon  as we walked in the front door with the lady that had the warm chocolate chip cookie samples.  I LOVE warm chocolate chip cookies.  As we walked by I said to my husband “Oh she has chocolate chip cookies.”  As he pulled the buggy, causing me to trot along behind it since I was holding on he said “come on, you don’t need it” Surprisingly enough I told him I didn’t even  want it. As a matter of fact eventhough I was faced with so many good smells  and food that looked so delicious, and comments from people tasting things and talking about how good they were I made it out of the store without as much as one tiny taste.  I realized that the devil was tempting me every turn I made through the store but I triumphed because God covered me in will power and strength.  I started my day with praying for God to take away my cravings and give me strength to turn from the foods that I should not be eating and he answered my prayer. Thank you God for giving me strength in what would have been a time of weakness. In the day when I cried out, you answered me, and made me bold with STRENGTH in my soul. Psalm 138:3
