Have you ever had a dream where everyone is staring at you because you are doing something incredibly stupid? Well, that is the way I thought things were going to be like when I started working out at the gym. I have been to a gym before, one of those $10 a month kind. I would walk in there, and sort of move my arms and legs up and down and said to myself, “Good for you!” I had no idea how to work the machines, so I was pretty much wasting my time.
At the $10 a month gym, no one ever took the time for show me how to use them, unless I paid for their time. I was sure things would end up being the same, I would try to figure it out and get crazy looks from the “pros” knowing they must think I’ve just landed on Earth from Mars. I’m so glad to say, I was totally wrong.
From the moment I entered the GHS Y, I was asked if I needed help. There were even times when I didn’t realize I needed the help, but someone (Billy) was already beside me asking if they could help.
On my first day I worked out for about 1 hour and 45 min and it was amazing. I was sore before I left, but I felt good for the work that I had put into my workout. Even though I had to go pee 7 times while I was there, thanks to drinking nothing must water the entire day. I was proud myself. After I picked up my daughter, she kept asking my about all the machines I was used while I work out, and she asked to touch my muscles. Even though there aren’t any, she was sweet enough to tell me how strong I was. I know my life is changing one workout at a time. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
