After going to my wellness appointment and seeing the results of my assessment, it’s very clear that my body needs work. I think for a very long time I have been ignoring the need to change my eating and exercising habits, and have been making excuses like “well, I can still fit into my jeans,” or “just this one piece of cake isn’t a huge deal.” But seeing it on paper, the 36% body fat, the way I’m out of breath after just three minutes of aerobic exercise, has really been an eye opener.
God says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1Cor. 6:19). So this isn’t just about me. It’s not just about looking good in my clothes and feeling better about my body. God has created me for His majesty and that comes with a responsibility to glorify Him. I haven’t been doing a very good job of that.
Through this opportunity I hope that I can put into practice a sustainable healthy lifestyle. It will take work and I know that it won’t be easy. But with His might and strength, we can do anything. And when we fall short, His grace abounds.
