More than a Number on a Scale

We are now in week four of this journey. I have found that my greatest accomplishments are far beyond the scale. Being able to withstand the treadmill for over 30 minutes at a time, on a speed greater than 1.5 and still be able to breathe. Increasing the weights on the workout equipment, shows I am getting stronger. I started out not being able to go far down into a full squat due to pain in my knees. I am now doing much better, knees are still an issue but not as much of a strain on them as before as I can go lower than I have in a very long time. (Lunges are still a problem, but I plan to conquer them as well.) I am looking forward to the 6 week point as we will be rechecking our BMI and I will be doing a monthly re-measurement with my church ladies’ workout group next week. My body feels stronger, and leaner (if only by a small percentage), it feels AMAZING! Sodas and sweet tea are both ancient history and the caffeine headaches caused by them are completed GONE! This journey has already been beyond worth it. The numbers on the scale don’t tell my whole story. I’m glad to be losing something each week… But what I am GAINING is so much more!! And that’s what counts the most — at least to me.

I just turned 49 and decided to take charge of my life! This is my year to get healthy and fit. FITBY50 is my motto.. I know I won't be at my ultimate goal by then, but step by step I know I can do it because "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me". I have a daughter with some disabilities and 2 grandsons I have to keep up with - this is my year!!
